Last year's BIG SHOW, in December at Midnight Blue, was a huge success. Great performances by The Rubies, Off the Grid, Robin Roberts, The Beat, and Fragmented Minds, and super sound from PortaParty Productions made it an unforgettable evening. The Photo Gallery page contains some great pictures of the show. With the closing of Midnight Blue, we are searching for another venue to plan our next big event. Many members are currently lending their talents to "busking", performing on the street to promote live music.

In June, we held our first quarterly open membership meeting/jam in President Jim McCann's backyard, with a cookout barbecue and covered dish dinner. Vice President Steve Sanders did most of the cooking and brought his famous Beer Brats for everyone to enjoy. Plus we had friends on hand from The Kansas Acoustic Arts Association ( President Dulcie Guinty on mandolin, and Nick Wagner on fiddle ) and The Wichita Blues Society. Lots of great food, fun and music!

A membership drive and open mike show at The Studio in August brought out a huge bunch of member pickers and guests. We had live music from 4 in the afternoon until midnight! Thanks to all the volunteers for the super food, talent, and camaraderie! We added many new members too!

We held our most recent quarterly meeting/jam at the Lamplighter Club with help on the music from several of our friends at KAAA sittin' in. The crowd at the Lamplighter was enthusiastic, with some even standing in the player's circle to get the up front feel of the energy from the jammers.

We are in the planning stages for the next BIG SHOW, to be held in January in Wichita. We are looking for bands and acts to perform, as well as volunteers for all the little things that putting on a BIG SHOW requires. Please email us if you or your band would like to participate. It's going to be HUGE!

The Kansas Bluegrass Association will be hosting their 19th annual Winter Bluegrass Festival at the Wichita Marriott February 15 and 16. Tickets are available at Banjo Fiddle, Etc., E.M. Shorts Guitars, Senseney Music, and lots of other places.
It should be a great weekend, with workshops and even a junior showcase, in addition to some wondermous shows! More info available at www.kansasbluegrass.org
